How scoring works
Kort has three levels of scoring: tricks within a round, wins within a match and, in ranked games, cups. Here's what everything is worth, with a calculator for any round.
Tricks, rounds and wins#
- A trick is one circuit of four cards. Each trick is 1 point for the team. The trick count is shown on the scoreboard: yours on the right, the opponents' on the left.
- A round is won when a team has taken 7 tricks. The round ends there, and the remaining cards aren't played.
- For winning a round, the team gets match wins: 1, 5, 7, 10 or 13, depending on how the round ended.
- The match is won by the first team to reach 7 wins, or 3 wins in a ranked game.
Round results#
| Result | How you get it | Match wins |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary win | 7 tricks, the opponents have 1 to 6. Exactly how many doesn't matter. | +1 |
| Kort | 7:0 for the team that chose the trump, without Bavan. | +5 |
| At-kort | 7:0 for the team that didn't choose the trump, without Bavan. | +7 |
| Bavan | A Kort, then the team went for Bavan and took all 13 tricks. | +10 |
| At-bavan | An At-kort, then all 13 tricks. | +13 |
| Bavan failed | During Bavan the opponents took at least one trick. The Kort doesn't count either. | +5 to the opponents |
| Trop failed | Trop to the end wasn't completed: the opponents took a trick, or the player who took a trick had run out of trumps. | +1 to the opponents |
After the round, a result banner pops up: “YOUR TEAM WINS THE ROUND” (or “LOSES THE ROUND”), “KORT”, “AT-KORT”, “BAVAN”, “AT-BAVAN”, “BAVAN FAILED” or “TROP FAILED”. The winning team sees the number of wins on it, and in a ranked game it also shows ±cups.
Match score#
- Practice and rooms: the match is played to 7 wins. An At-kort, Bavan or At-bavan wins such a match at once. A Kort gives 5 of the 7. The exception is a room with spectators: there, players swap seats after every 2 wins, and the score starts over.
- Ranked game: to 3 wins. Here a Kort, At-kort, Bavan or At-bavan ends the match at once, and a failed Bavan instantly gives the win to the opponents.
- The “WINS” line on the scoreboard shows the match score: the opponents' wins on the left, yours on the right. It updates once the round result banner flies away.
- There are no draws. Winning the match shows “YOUR TEAM WINS!”, losing shows “YOUR TEAM LOSES”.
The score can go over the target: at 6:2, a Kort makes it 11:2. The match simply ends at that point.
Round calculator#
Choose how the round ended, and the calculator shows the result, the match wins, the cups and who holds the trump next.
Who holds the trump next#
In the next round, the trump always goes to the team that won. Within the team, it passes to the partner after a Kort or after a second win in a row. If the trump holder's team lost, the trump goes to the next player in turn, who is on the winning team. The table is in the rules.
Cups in ranked games#
In a ranked game, for every round each player on a team gains or loses as many cups as the round gave in wins: ordinary win ±1, Kort ±5, At-kort ±7, Bavan ±10, At-bavan ±13, Bavan failed ±5, Trop failed ±1. On top of that comes the bonus for winning the match. Everything about cups is in the “Ranked games and cups” section.
