Kort, At-kort and Bavan
A 7:0 shutout is the biggest moment at the table. It gives 5 or 7 wins at once, and the team can take a risk and go for Bavan: taking all 13 tricks. Here's how it works, how the vote goes and when the risk pays off.
Kort#
Kort: the team that chose the trump wins the round 7:0, and the opponents don't take a single trick. A Kort is worth 5 match wins instead of one.
- In a match to 7 wins, a Kort gives 5 of the 7; in a ranked match to 3, it wins the match at once.
- After a Kort, the trump passes to the partner of the player who held it.
- In a ranked game, a Kort means ±5 cups for each player.
At-kort#
At-kort: 7:0 for the team that didn't choose the trump. Shutting out the opponents against their own trump is much harder, so an At-kort is worth 7 wins, which wins the match at once if there are no spectators in the room. In a ranked game it's ±7 cups.
Bavan#
When the round score reaches 7:0, the round doesn't end right away. The team that made the Kort or At-kort can go for Bavan: a commitment to take all 13 tricks.

— from the KORT rules
How the vote works#
- At 7:0, the cards of both players on the winning team are revealed to everyone: the opponents, the partner and the spectators. The opponents' cards stay hidden.
- The team sees the question “You scored KORT! Go for Bavan?” (after an At-kort, “AT-KORT”) and two buttons: Bavan! and Stop. Meanwhile, the opponents see “Opponents deciding: Bavan or stop”.
- There are 30 seconds to decide. Only the two players of the team that made the 7:0 vote. You can't change your vote: once you've voted, you see “Waiting for partner...”.

AlexYouYou scored KORT! Go for Bavan?
- Your team takes trick after trick, and the opponents have none.
- 5:0…
- 6:0…
- 7:0: that's a Kort! But the round doesn't end here: first the team decides whether to go for Bavan.
- Both players on the team get the question “You scored KORT! Go for Bavan?” They have 30 seconds to answer.
- Your partner tapped “Bavan!”
- You tapped “Stop”. One refusal is enough.
- No Bavan: the Kort counts, +5 wins.
| How they voted | What happens |
|---|---|
| At least one tapped “Stop” | Declined at once. The Kort or At-kort counts. |
| Both tapped “Bavan!” | They go for Bavan. |
| One tapped “Bavan!”, the other did nothing for 30 seconds | They go for Bavan: silence counts as agreement. |
| Both did nothing for 30 seconds | Declined, the Kort or At-kort counts. |

AlexYouYou scored KORT! Go for Bavan?
- 7:0: the team gets the Bavan question.
- Your partner tapped “Bavan!”, and you don't tap anything.
- 30 seconds pass…
- Silence counts as agreement: the team goes for Bavan and plays to 13:0.
How Bavan is played#
- If Bavan is accepted, the table shows “BAVAN! Playing to 13:0”. The revealed cards stay visible for at least 15 seconds from the start of the vote, even if both agreed right away, and are then hidden again.
- The player who took the 7th trick leads first.
- The round goes on until 13:0 or until the opponents take their first trick.
- Sar and Trop work as usual, but a team going for Bavan may also declare Trop, even though it already has 7 tricks or more (normally, with 5 tricks or more, only Sar is allowed).
Bavan results#
| Result | When | Wins |
|---|---|---|
| Bavan | 13:0 after a Kort | +10 |
| At-bavan | 13:0 after an At-kort | +13 |
| Bavan failed | The opponents took at least one trick | +5 to the opponents, 0 to you |
A successful Bavan or At-bavan wins the match at once if there are no spectators in the room: with spectators, players swap seats after every 2 wins. Note: Bavan replaces the Kort, it isn't added to it. And if it fails, the team also loses the Kort it already made.
Is Bavan worth the risk?#
A Kort already guarantees 5 or 7 wins. Bavan gives more, but if it fails you lose everything, and the opponents get 5 wins.
In a room, match to 7#
- Stopped at the Kort: +5, the match isn't necessarily won yet.
- Bavan succeeded: +10, the match is won.
- Bavan failed: +5 to the opponents. If they already had 2 wins or more, they win the match.
After an At-kort, there's no point in going for Bavan in a room for the wins: the At-kort already gives 7, which wins the match. Here Bavan is only for glory.
In a ranked game, match to 3#
Here a Kort already ends the match, and Bavan only changes the cups. An example at the start of a match, at 0:0:
| Decision | After a Kort | After an At-kort |
|---|---|---|
| Stop | +10 | +12 |
| Bavan succeeded | +15 | +18 |
| Bavan failed | −5 | −5 |
Cups for each player on the team: for the round plus a +5 bonus for a clean sweep (+2 for the match and another +3). If Bavan fails, the opponents win the match 5:0, and you lose 5 cups.
Bots and Bavan#
- If your partner is a bot, it always votes “yes” after 2 seconds. So the fate of the Bavan is in your hands: tap “Stop” if you don't want to take the risk. Silence counts as agreement.
- If two bots are deciding on Bavan, they go for it only when the win is guaranteed whatever cards the opponents hold.
- Online, a bot votes for a player who has left, by the same rules.
Details#
- A Kort or At-kort counts only after the Bavan decision. At 7:0 there is always a vote first.
- Only the team that made the 7:0 shows its cards. The opponents see both of your hands and know your weak spots in advance.
- After a successful Trop to the end, the score is 7:0, which is a Kort, so Bavan is offered as well. But if you go for it, your team can't lead a trump until it leads a different suit: a completed Trop bars trump leads.
- How often your Bavan succeeds is shown in “My games” (since version 1.2.6): there's a line “Bavan called N times, made M”.
