Rules#
How many cards does each player get?
13 each. The game uses a full 52-card deck, from twos to aces, with no jokers. More about the deck.
Who chooses the trump?
The trump holder, based on their first five cards, before the rest are dealt. In Practice, in the first round it's always you. After that, the trump stays with the team that won the previous round and passes to the partner after a Kort or a second win in a row. Table of how the trump passes.
What does the “13” button do when choosing the trump?
The trump will be the suit of the last, 13th card the trump holder receives. During the deal it's shown face up to everyone. It's a “blind” choice, for when your five cards don't tell you which suit to pick.
Can I choose a suit I don't have as the trump?
Yes, the game allows it: you can choose any of the four suits, even if it isn't among your first five cards.
Do I have to play a trump if I can't follow suit?
No. If you don't have the lead suit, you can play any card: a trump or a discard of another suit. You don't have to play a higher card either. The only rule is to follow the lead suit if you have it.
Which way does play go?
Counterclockwise. On screen: you at the bottom, then the player on the right, your partner at the top, the player on the left.
Why can't I lead a trump?
Most likely a restriction from a declaration is in effect:
- after Sar, your team must lead a non-trump card once;
- after a completed Trop, neither you nor your partner can lead a trump until one of you leads a different suit.
If your hand is all trumps, the restriction doesn't apply. All about Sar and Trop.
What's the difference between Sar and Trop?
Sar is a single trump lead: in the next trick, your team leads a different suit. Trop is three trump leads in a row, as long as your team keeps taking tricks. The trick with the declaration counts as the first of the three. If an opponent takes the trick, the restrictions are lifted.
I played a trump and the “Sar / Trop” window appeared. Can I cancel?
No, the window has no cancel button: you'll have to pick one of the declarations. If you don't want to declare anything, lead a different suit.
Why was Sar declared automatically, without the window?
Sar is declared automatically in two cases: if you have fewer than three trumps, counting the card you lead, or if your team already has 5 tricks or more. And if your hand is all trumps, you don't need to declare anything.
What happens if, during Trop, the player who took the trick has no trumps?
The Trop is lifted completely, with all its restrictions. A regular Trop simply ends there. But if it was Trop to the end, it has failed.
When can I declare Trop to the end?
Only on the very first lead of the round, which means only the trump holder can, and only with 7 trumps or more. Then a third button appears in the window. Your team commits to taking the first 7 tricks while leading trumps. More.
What happens if Trop to the end fails?
The round ends at once with “TROP FAILED”, and the opponents get 1 win. It fails if the opponents take any trick, or if the lead passes to a player on your team who has no trumps.
When can I ask for a redeal?
If you're the trump holder, the trump is already chosen, the first move hasn't been made, and your hand has no jack, queen or king. Then the “Redeal” button appears. More.
Does an ace count as a face card for a redeal?
No. Face cards are only the jack, queen and king. You can redeal with aces in your hand.
How many times in a row can I redeal?
There's no limit: the condition is checked again each time. The trump holder and the round and match score don't change on a redeal, and everyone sees the trump holder's hand for a couple of seconds.
Why did the round end while there were still cards in hand?
A round ends as soon as one team has taken 7 tricks. The remaining cards aren't played. The exception is Bavan, where play goes on to 13 tricks.
How much time do I get for a move?
In online games, 10 seconds per move plus a time bank of 20 seconds for the whole round. Choosing the trump and deciding on Bavan get 30 seconds each. In Practice there's no time limit.
How do the bot levels in Practice differ?
An Easy bot makes about one move in five at random and remembers few cards. A Medium bot makes mistakes less often and counts trumps. A Hard bot never makes mistakes on purpose, remembers every card and runs through hundreds of possible card distributions before each move. Bots don't peek at other players' cards. Changing the level restarts the match.
Which bots play online?
Always Hard ones, whatever level you chose in Practice.
Scoring and Bavan#
How many wins does a Kort give?
A Kort, 7:0 for the team that chose the trump, gives 5 wins. An At-kort, 7:0 for the team without the trump, gives 7 wins, which wins the match at once. All about Kort and Bavan.
Is there a difference between winning 7:6 and 7:1?
No. Any win where the opponents have 1 to 6 tricks gives one match win. Only 7:0 gives more.
When is Bavan offered?
As soon as the round score reaches 7:0. The winning team's cards are revealed to everyone, and the team has 30 seconds to decide: go on to 13:0 or stop at the Kort.
My partner tapped “Bavan!” and I didn't tap anything. What happens?
After 30 seconds, Bavan starts: if one player says yes and the other stays silent, silence counts as agreement. If you don't want to take the risk, tap “Stop”. Any refusal keeps the Kort at once.
Why does a bot partner always agree to Bavan?
It's by design: if the bot's partner is a live player, the bot votes yes and leaves the decision to you. Tap “Stop” if you want to take the Kort.
What happens if the opponents take a trick during Bavan?
That's a failed Bavan: the opponents get 5 wins, and your team gets nothing. The Kort you started from is lost too.
Is Bavan added to the Kort?
No, it replaces it. Bavan is 10 wins instead of 5, At-bavan is 13 instead of 7. That wins the match at once if there are no spectators in the room: with spectators, players swap seats after every 2 wins.
Who leads first after the team goes for Bavan?
The player who took the seventh trick. The revealed cards stay visible for at least 15 seconds from the start of the vote, then they're hidden, and the round goes on until 13:0 or until the opponents take their first trick.
How many wins is a match played to?
In Practice and in rooms, to 7 wins; in a ranked game, to 3. There are no draws.
How do I read the scoreboard?
Your trick count is on the right (“WE”), the opponents' on the left (“THEY”). The “WINS” line below them shows the match wins: the opponents' on the left, yours on the right.
Ranked games and cups#
Where can I earn cups?
Only in ranked games. Rooms and Practice don't give or take cups. All about ranked games.
How many cups do I get for a round?
Each player gains or loses as many cups as the round gave in wins: ordinary win ±1, Kort ±5, At-kort ±7, Bavan ±10, At-bavan ±13, Bavan failed ±5, Trop failed ±1. Plus +2 for the match winners, and another +3 for a clean sweep.
Why doesn't the ranked game start if I'm alone?
At least two live players are needed. When a second one sits down, a 30-second countdown starts, and bots fill the empty seats, no more than two.
Why did the countdown start over?
A third player sat down at the table, so the countdown is back to 30 seconds. If a fourth one sits down, the match starts right away.
What happens if I leave a ranked match?
A bot finishes the current round for you, and its result counts for you, even a loss. On top of that, you get a −2 cup penalty for leaving early. There's no penalty if only bots are left against you, if you came back and finished, or if you left after the deciding round. All the cases.
My internet went down. Will I lose cups?
Get back to the table: if you come back and finish the match, there's no penalty for leaving. If many players lose connection at once, the game recognizes it as an outage and refunds the −2 by itself. But if you don't come back, a single disconnect counts as leaving. What to do when you disconnect.
How do I get back to my ranked match?
Tap “Ranked game” in the main menu: while the match is on, the button shows a blinking red “Your match is on — rejoin”, and you'll return to the same table. The game remembers the match for up to 2 hours, even if the app was closed. More.
What does “Away” at my seat mean?
Your move time and time bank ran out, and a bot made a move for you. Now the bot plays for you instantly and your cards are covered by a panel: tap “I'm back” to play yourself again. No cups are taken for this, but you'll get a warning after the ranked match, and if you're away often, ranked games may be closed for you. More.
Why am I not on the leaderboard?
You get on the leaderboard after playing at least 20 rounds of ranked games in the season. Your row at the bottom shows how many rounds are left. Also, the leaderboard only shows the top 100.
Why didn't my cups on the leaderboard update right away?
Round results reach the leaderboard within a few minutes. The rank frame at the table can lag by up to an hour.
When does a new season start?
On the 1st of every month at 00:00 Bishkek time. With a new season, everyone is back to 1,000 cups. A round goes to the season in which it ended.
What prizes are there, and when do they arrive?
The top 100 places get coins: 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 for places 1–3, then 4,000, 2,000 and 1,000. Prizes are distributed within 3 days after the season ends, usually on the morning of the 1st. You need to play at least 20 rounds in the season. More.
If the opponents are bots, do cups still count?
Yes, both gains and losses: cups are counted the same way no matter who you play with. Bots themselves don't get cups.
Can I play a ranked game with a friend?
You can't invite a friend to a ranked game: it matches players by itself. You can play with friends in a room, but there are no cups there.
Ranked games were closed for me. Why, and for how long?
This happens for repeatedly leaving, being away or going offline in ranked matches. A moderator makes the decision. The term is shown in a window in the main menu and starts when you tap “Got it”. The “Ranked game” button shows how much time is left. You can still return to your own match that's already in progress.
What do the crowns and frames on players at the table mean?
They show the player's leaderboard place: a crown and a pulsing glow mean places 1–3, and a “TOP 10”, “TOP 50” or “TOP 100” plate means the rest of the top 100. More.
Online, rooms, voice#
How do I play with friends?
Create a private room and send your friends an invite, or tell them the 4-digit code. Empty seats can be filled with bots, no more than two. More about rooms.
How do I join a private room?
“Enter lobby” → find the room with a lock → enter the 4-digit code. Anyone already in that room can see the code. And if a friend invites you, you don't need the code.
Why can't I see my friend's room in the lobby?
As soon as the match starts, the room disappears from the lobby: new players can't join it. Ranked tables aren't shown in the lobby at all. If you yourself left a match in progress, your table is shown with the label “Your table — rejoin”.
Why doesn't the “Start” button work?
Only the room owner can tap Start, and only when all 4 seats are taken, by people or bots.
Why can't I add a third bot?
An online room needs at least two live players, so there can be no more than two bots. You can play with three bots in Practice.
Can I watch a game as a spectator?
Yes, in a private room: up to two spectators. While there are spectators, the match doesn't end: after every 2 wins, the spectators swap places with the losers. Public rooms and ranked games have no spectators.
Nobody can hear me. How do I turn on the mic?
Tap the mic button at the table: red means it's off. If the button is gray, voice isn't connected: tap it to reconnect. Check that the game has microphone access in your phone settings. All causes and fixes.
How do I mute a player?
Tap the speaker icon next to their avatar. The player is muted only for you, until you leave the room. More.
How do I report a player?
Tap their avatar at the table → “Report” → choose a reason: “Swearing, insults” or “Hints to partner”. The last 10 seconds of their voice are attached to the report. If you report swearing, the player is muted for you right away. More.
What happens if I minimize the app during a game?
The match continues, and your move time runs as usual: if you don't move in time, a bot will. On iPhone the game stays active as long as the table's voice is connected (the sound button isn't on “silent”); on Android, as long as you're at an online table. More.
The game asks me to update. What should I do?
Update KORT in the App Store or Google Play. This happens after important updates: so that everyone at the table plays by the same rules, online play is closed on the old version, and sometimes the whole game is.
Can I play without internet?
Yes, Practice with bots and the Tutorial work offline. Online play, friends, ranked games and the shop need internet.
Can I play with my phone held sideways?
Yes, since version 1.2.6: at the table, the screen rotates by itself. The menu, profile and shop stay in portrait.
Account and friends#
Why sign in with Apple or Telegram?
To keep your cups and progress on any phone, and also to add friends, earn and spend coins, and since version 1.2.6, to get your own avatar drawn and watch ads for coins. Without signing in, your profile is tied to this phone and can't be moved to another one.
How do I move my progress to a new phone?
Sign in on the new phone the same way as on the old one: Apple or Telegram. If you're moving from iPhone to Android, link Telegram first: there's no Apple sign-in on Android. Step by step.
I signed out and now I have 1,000 cups. Is everything lost?
No. After signing out, the phone starts a new guest profile. Sign in again and your cups, friends and coins come back from the account.
When I sign in, the game says the cups on my phone will be lost. What should I choose?
This happens if you played as a guest and are signing in to an existing account. The account's cups stay, and the cups the guest earned this season are lost. Compare the numbers in the window and decide. If you tap “Cancel”, you stay a guest with your cups.
How do I find a friend?
The “Friends” tab → type their 7-digit ID or the start of their nickname. You can also tap a player at the table or on the leaderboard and choose “Add friend”. More about friends.
I can't find a friend by nickname. Why?
The search matches the start of the nickname, so check the first letters. Several players can have the same nickname, and guests can be found by nickname only if they played this season or last season. The most reliable way is to search by ID: everyone has one in their profile.
Why can't I invite a friend to a table?
You can only invite mutual friends, and only after signing in. You can't invite a friend who is currently “in game”. Your friend may also have turned off “Table invites”, tapped “Don't invite me for an hour” or declined; in that case you can invite them again in 15 minutes. You can invite the same friend once every 3 minutes. More.
How do I remove a friend?
On the “Friends” tab, swipe their row to the left and tap “Remove”.
How do I change my nickname? Can I take a nickname that's already used?
Tap your nickname in your profile and type a new one, up to 10 characters; it's saved right away. Nicknames aren't unique, so yours can match someone else's. A player is uniquely identified by their ID.
Where can I see my stats and past games?
Since version 1.2.6, in your profile, on the “My games” tab: matches, rounds, Korts, Bavans and your last 10 online matches from the past 30 days. The “Watch” button replays a match move by move with all players' cards face up. More.
How do I delete my account, and what will be lost?
“My profile” → the “Profile” tab → “Delete account”. These are lost forever: cups, game history, friends, and also all coins, purchased items and your own avatars. Deletion can't be undone.
Coins and shop#
How do I get coins on Android?
You can't buy coins on Android, but you can get them: for a leaderboard place, as a gift from a friend, and since version 1.2.6, for ads. Coins bought on iPhone show up on Android after you sign in to the same account with Telegram.
Why can't I gift coins?
You can gift only purchased coins: prize coins, gifted coins and coins for ads can't be passed on. The person must be on your friends list and signed in with Apple or Telegram. The minimum is 10 coins, the maximum is 10,000 a day. On Android, the “Gift” button appears only if you have at least 10 purchased coins.
I bought coins, but they didn't arrive.
Check that you're signed in and online: the coins will be added automatically as soon as the game reaches the server. Don't delete the game: the App Store will return the unconfirmed purchase the next time you launch it. If that doesn't help, write to support.
How much does my own avatar cost, and who sees my selfie?
Since version 1.2.6: 1,000 coins for one drawing, from which you pick one of 3 versions. Only one drawing can be in progress at a time. Nobody sees the selfie itself: it's used only for the drawing and is deleted afterwards. More.
My avatar wasn't drawn. Are my coins gone?
No, coins are refunded automatically if no face can be seen in the photo or the drawing failed. Try again in good light, holding the phone at face level. All the cases.
How do I redo my own avatar? There's no “Retake” button.
“Retake” exists only before you send the photo. Once the versions are drawn, a new drawing is started with the “New · 1 000” button on the selection screen. It appears if you've already chosen a version and have at least 1,000 coins. In detail, with a picture.
Can I choose a different version of my avatar?
Yes, for free, within 3 days after sending the selfie: open your own avatar window again, pick another version from the same drawing and tap “Choose”.
I bought a card back, but the cards at the table show someone else's. Why?
The deck's card back and the table cloth belong to whoever holds the trump at the moment. When the trump passes to you, the whole table will play with your card back.
How long does a purchased item last?
Usually 7 or 30 days, longer during promotions. Buy the same item again and its term is extended. When the term ends, the item is simply taken off.
How do I throw a gift at a player?
Tap the player's avatar at the table and pick a gift from the “What to throw at…” row. First buy a pack in the shop, in the “Gifts” category. You can throw at any time, but no more than once every 3 seconds.
Do purchases give an advantage in the game?
No. All items only change how things look, and gifts are just for fun. Purchases don't affect cards, moves or cups.

Where can I follow game news?
In the Telegram channel @kort_online. The “Community” button in the main menu leads there too.
I found a bug. Where do I report it?
On the support page. Describe what happened and, if possible, attach a screenshot and the time it happened.
