KORTplayer's guide

Ranked games and cups

The ranked game is the only mode where you earn cups. Here's everything about it: how players are matched, how many cups each round gives, when there's a penalty, and how the leaderboard, seasons and prizes work.

How to start#

  1. In the main menu, tap Ranked game. The Searching for players 1/4 screen opens.
  2. The game seats you at a table where ranked players are already waiting, starting with the fullest tables. If there are none, it takes a free table.
  3. When there are two live players at the table, a 30-second countdown starts: Game starts in: 30.
  4. When the countdown ends, bots fill the empty seats and the match starts. If all four players are at the table, the match starts right away, with no countdown.

A few matchmaking rules:

  • At least two live players are needed. You can't play a ranked game alone: while you're the only one at the table, there's no countdown.
  • No more than two bots at a table. Two players get two bots, three players get one bot, four players get no bots.
  • If a third player sits down, the countdown starts over: another 30 seconds. The same happens if someone leaves and another player takes their seat. If fewer than two people remain, the countdown is canceled.
  • If you're waiting alone and one person is also waiting at another table, the game moves you both to the same table.
  • After a minute of waiting, a hint appears saying the search continues and you can play Practice in the meantime.
  • The Cancel button takes you back to the main menu. Until the match starts, you can leave with no penalty.
  • Ranked tables aren't shown in the room list, they have no spectators, and no new players are seated in a match that has already started.

Match to 3 wins#

A ranked match is played to 3 wins (in rooms and Practice, to 7). Each round gives the team as many match wins as its result is worth:

Round resultMatch wins
Ordinary win1
Kort5
At-kort7
Bavan10
At-bavan13
Bavan failed, to the opponents5
Trop failed, to the opponents1

That's why a single Kort ends a ranked match at once: 5 wins is more than the 3 needed. What Kort and Bavan are is explained in the “Kort and Bavan” section.

You get 10 seconds per move, and if you run out, a time bank of 20 seconds for the whole round. The time bank refills at the start of every new round.

Cups per round#

At the start of every season, everyone has 1,000 cups. After each round, each player on a team gains or loses as many cups as the match wins the round gave:

Round resultWinnersLosers
Ordinary win+1−1
Kort+5−5
At-kort+7−7
Bavan+10−10
At-bavan+13−13
Bavan failed
the opponents took a trick
+5 to the opponents−5 for the team that called it
Trop failed
Trop to the end wasn't completed
+1 to the opponents−1 for the team that failed it

After the round, the result banner shows how many cups you gained or lost. This line appears only in ranked games.

  • Cups go to players who took part in the round: those who were at the table when it started or came back during it.
  • Left in the middle of a round? It's still yours. A bot finishes it, and the result counts for you, even a loss. So leaving right before an obvious Kort by the opponents is pointless. Later rounds no longer count for the player who left.
  • Cups count against bots too, both gains and losses. Bots themselves don't gain or lose cups.
  • There's no lower limit: after a long losing streak, your cups can go below zero.
  • The leaderboard doesn't update instantly: round results reach it within a few minutes.
A detail. Rooms, both public and private, and Practice with bots don't give or take cups. There you can play with friends and try out Bavans without worry.

Match win bonus#

On top of the cups for rounds, the team that wins the match gets a bonus:

  • +2 cups for everyone on the winning team who is at the table when the match ends;
  • another +3 for a clean sweep, when the losers have 0 wins. That's not only 3:0, but also 5:0 after a Kort, 7:0 and so on;
  • the losers lose nothing extra for losing the match: they only lose the cups for the rounds.
ExampleWinner's total
Three ordinary wins and one loss, 3:1+2 +2 = +4
Three ordinary wins in a row, 3:0+3 +5 = +8
A Kort in the very first round, 5:0+5 +5 = +10
An At-kort after one lost round, 7:1−1 +7 +2 = +8

In the examples, the cups for rounds come first, then the bonus: +2 for a win or +5 for a clean sweep.

The bonus is given only for a finished match. If you left and didn't come back, you don't get the bonus, even if your team won.

Leaving a match and the penalty#

If you leave a ranked match before it ends and don't come back, a bot finishes the current round for you, and you also get a −2 cup penalty for leaving early. The player search screen warns you about this.

When there's no penalty#

  • Only bots are left against you. For example, you and your partner are playing against two bots. Your partner doesn't count here.
  • You were the last to leave: all live opponents left before you.
  • You came back and finished the match, even if you missed several rounds.
  • You left after the deciding round, from its result banner: the match already counts as finished.
  • You left before the match started, during the search or the countdown.
  • There was a mass connection failure, when players at many tables disconnect at once. The game detects such cases by itself and refunds the −2 automatically within about 10 minutes.
Important. If only your connection dropped and you didn't come back before the match ended, the game can't tell it apart from leaving. So after a disconnect, try to get back to the table: if you come back and finish, there's no penalty.

How to get back to your match#

While your ranked match is on, the game remembers it for up to 2 hours, even if the app was closed. In the main menu, the bottom line of the Ranked game button changes to a blinking red Your match is on — rejoin. Tap the button and you'll return to the same table, to your own seat. The game doesn't look for a new table in this case.

While you're gone, a bot plays for you. After you leave, it waits the full move time once, and after that it plays instantly. If you come back in the middle of a round, you continue it with your own cards and get its cups.

“Away”: if you don't make your moves#

If both the 10 seconds per move and the time bank run out, a bot makes the move for you. From that moment you're “Away”:

  • other players see a gray Away label at your seat;
  • your hand is covered by a dark panel saying “You are away — a bot is playing for you” with an I'm back button;
  • the bot plays for you instantly, without waiting, and your time bank for this round is used up.

To get back into the game, tap I'm back. Your move time is back to normal, and the time bank returns in the next round.

No cups are taken for being away, but the game remembers it. After a ranked match where you were away, a warning appears in the main menu. If you're away often, ranked games may be closed for you for a while. More in the “Help” section.

Leaderboard#

The leaderboard opens with the cup button in the main menu. It shows:

  • the season's top 100: place, avatar, nickname, number of rounds and cups;
  • at the top, the season name and how many days are left until it ends (today counts);
  • your own row pinned at the bottom, with the “Prizes” and “How are cups counted?” links below it.

To get on the leaderboard, you need to play at least 20 rounds of ranked games in the season. Until then, your row shows a dash instead of a place, and how many rounds are left.

Places: the player with more cups ranks higher. With equal cups, the player who played more rounds ranks higher. Tap another player's row to open their card and add them as a friend.

Frames and crowns at the table#

Your leaderboard place is also shown at the game table, to everyone in online games, both ranked and in rooms:

PlaceWhat it looks like
1, 2, 3A gold, silver or bronze name plate, a place label, an outline, a pulsing glow and a crown on the shoulder
4–10A name plate and a “TOP 10” label, a golden outline, a glow and a shine
11–50A name plate and a “TOP 50” label, a silver outline
51–100A name plate and a “TOP 100” label

Only live players get frames. While a seat's move timer is running, the name plate looks normal. A name plate bought in the shop replaces the rank plate, but the label, glow and crown stay. The frame doesn't update right away; sometimes it takes up to an hour.

Seasons#

A season is a calendar month in Bishkek time. It starts on the 1st at 00:00 and ends on the 1st of the next month at 00:00 Bishkek time.

  • A round goes to the season in which it ended. A match that runs past midnight on the 1st is split between two seasons.
  • With a new season, everyone is back to 1,000 cups, and the round count and place start over. In the first days the leaderboard is empty until someone plays 20 rounds.
  • Your personal stats in “My games” (since version 1.2.6) are not reset: they cover all time.

Season prizes#

At the end of the season, the top 100 places get coins:

PlacePrize
120,000 coins
215,000 coins
310,000 coins
4–104,000 coins
11–502,000 coins
51–1001,000 coins

Prizes as of October 2026. The current list is always in the game: “Leaderboard” → “Prizes”.

  • Requirement: the same 20 rounds of ranked games in the season.
  • When: prizes are distributed within 3 days after the season ends. Usually this happens on the morning of the 1st.
  • How you'll know: when you open the main menu, a “Season reward” window appears with your place and the amount, and your coin history gets a “Season reward” entry.
  • Prize coins can be spent but not gifted: only purchased coins can be gifted.
  • To spend coins, you need to sign in with Apple or Telegram on the “Profile” tab. More in the “Coins and shop” section.

Restrictions for violations#

Both restrictions are given manually by a moderator; there are no automatic bans:

  • ranked games may be closed for a while for repeatedly leaving, being away or going offline in ranked matches;
  • voice chat may be restricted for swearing, insults or giving hints to your partner. The moderator looks at reports with voice recordings and at how many different players reported someone.
  • A window in the main menu tells you about the restriction. It applies right away, and the time starts when you tap Got it.
  • When ranked games are closed, the button shows how long you have left to wait. Even during a ban, you can still return to your own match that's already in progress.
  • When your voice is restricted, the mic won't turn on, but you can still hear others. If a recording was attached to the report, you can listen to it right in the window.

How to report a player and what to do if your voice chat is restricted is in the “Help” section.
